ASAE’s Annual Meeting draws association executives from across the country, and a lot of nonprofits and associations show up with the same generic recap video everyone else brings. Standing out there takes something more specific.

A generic highlight reel blends in immediately
Wide shots of a conference room, a few applause cutaways, upbeat music, that formula is the default for a reason, it’s easy to produce. It’s also exactly what every other organization at ASAE’s Annual Meeting is bringing, which means it does almost nothing to make your organization memorable to a room full of peers who have seen the same format a dozen times that week.
At ASAE’s Annual Meeting, a specific story beats a broad summary
One real member story, one concrete program outcome, one honest challenge your organization worked through, any of these does more than a broad summary of the whole year. Association executives watching dozens of other organizations’ content are looking for something specific enough to actually remember afterward.
Plan the video around the room, not just the content
A video meant to be shown at a conference booth or session plays differently than one meant for a website, shorter, punchier, built to work with sound off in a noisy hall. Producing the same video for both uses usually means it underperforms in at least one of them.
What we’d actually recommend
Pick one specific story instead of a general recap, and build a version specifically for a noisy conference setting, captioned, short, sound-off friendly, rather than repurposing your website video as-is.
