A full videO production team in Washington, DC

8 Media Group is a video production team in Washington, DC. We build the right crew for the job, from a two camera interview to a multi day conference, and we run it end to end.

Inside our video production team in Washington, DC

Our video production team covers every seat a shoot needs. Directors of photography, camera operators, audio engineers, gaffers and grips on set. Editors, colorists, motion designers and stills photographers after it. We assemble the right size crew for each project rather than forcing every job through the same fixed roster.

A two camera executive interview does not need the same team as a three day conference with a live stream and same day social cuts, so we do not staff them the same way. What stays constant is the standard, the gear and the people. We work with the same core group of professionals on repeat, which is why our crews operate like a team from the first setup instead of a group of freelancers meeting at call time.

How a project runs

Every project is assigned a producer who owns it from the first call through final delivery. That producer handles scoping, scheduling, location and venue logistics, the call sheet, the crew, and the review rounds. You are never handed off mid project or left chasing an account manager for an answer.

Pre production is where most of the risk gets removed. We lock the message, the interview questions, the shot list and the venue requirements before anyone shows up with a camera, which is what keeps shoot days calm and on schedule.

On shoot day the crew arrives early, builds the lighting and audio before your people are pulled away from their desks, and works to a schedule that respects the fact that your executives have a day job. In post you get a first cut, then structured revision rounds with consolidated feedback rather than an open ended back and forth.

One crew, every format

Most video companies specialize in one thing, weddings, corporate brand films, or event coverage, and refer out anything else. We built 8 Media Group differently: one core crew that handles corporate interviews, multi-day conferences, brand storytelling, testimonials, and training video under a single point of contact, since 2014.

That matters more than it sounds. An association does not want to manage three different vendors for their annual meeting, a donor video, and a staff training library. One producer who already knows your organization can plan all three around the same calendar and the same standard.

Our case work reflects that range: covering the Croatian Ambassador’s FIFA World Cup announcement, a government contractor’s employee brand video for NIKA Solutions, and years of Capitol Hill event coverage for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, alongside the corporate interviews and conference coverage that make up most of our work.

Comfortable in rooms that do not allow a second take

Some of our most demanding work has happened in rooms with no room for error, badged federal facilities, live policy events, a single-take ambassador announcement. That standard shapes how we run every shoot, not just the high-stakes ones.

Pre-production is where we remove the risk before it becomes a problem on set. The message, the interview questions, the shot list, and any site or security requirements get locked before a single camera shows up, which is what lets us walk into a secure facility or a live event and get it right the first time.

Chris Cruz, founder of 8 Media Group

Chris Cruz, Founder

8 Media Group was founded by Chris Cruz, who spent years shooting in rooms most crews never get into. At the Woodrow Wilson Center he filmed heads of state, ambassadors and senior policy figures, where there is one take, no second setup and no room to be precious about it.

That standard is what the company was built on and it still sets the bar for how we staff, prep and run a production. Chris leads creative direction and the client relationships, and the team carries the work from pre production through delivery.

Who we work with

We work with organizations that have something real to communicate and a stakeholder audience that notices when it is done badly. That means national associations and membership organizations, large scale nonprofits, political and advocacy groups, federal contractors, law firms, and technology companies across Northern Virginia.

Most of that work falls into corporate video production, event videography for conferences and annual meetings, testimonial and brand story video, and commercial photography. To see how projects are scoped and priced, start with our video production packages. Agencies and out of town production companies can also hire us as a local DC crew.

FAQs

How much does a video project typically cost?

Projects range from a single-day corporate interview around $2,500 to a full multi-day conference or brand campaign in the $15,000 to $30,000 range. You can build your own instant estimate on our pricing page, no email or phone call required.

How long has 8 Media Group been in business?

Since 2014. Founder Chris Cruz built the company around the same one-take discipline he learned filming policy events at the Woodrow Wilson Center, and that standard still shapes how every project is run.

Do you work outside Washington, DC?

Yes. Most of our work is based in the DC metro area, but we regularly travel across Maryland and Virginia, and take on out-of-town projects for agencies and production companies that need a local DC crew.

Who is our point of contact once a project starts?

A single producer, assigned from the first call through final delivery. That person owns scoping, scheduling, logistics, the crew, and the review rounds, so you are never handed off mid-project.

What kinds of organizations do you typically work with?

National associations and membership organizations, large-scale nonprofits, political and advocacy groups, federal contractors, law firms, and technology companies across the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area.

Can you handle projects at secure or access-controlled facilities?

Yes. We coordinate badging, escort requirements, and site security in advance, and can staff cleared crew on request. See video production for federal contractors for more detail on how that works.

Do you offer video production services beyond DC, like Northern Virginia?

Yes. We regularly work across Northern Virginia and suburban Maryland in addition to Washington, DC proper.

Can out-of-town agencies or production companies hire your crew?

Yes. Agencies and out-of-town productions can hire us as a local DC crew for their own projects. See DC video crew for hire for details.
