This time last year, we worked on another story with local journalist, Megan Rummler, to highlight a new music therapy program introduced by the D.C. based mental health agency, Community Connections.

This music program helped a Community Connections patient, Tiara “Lady T”, cope with her mental struggles by harnessing her energy that would have otherwise turned into violence, into a fulfilling outlet where she can positively, productively, creatively, and safely express her thoughts and emotions, and feel heard and understood.

“There’s been medication, there’s been therapy, there’s been couseling. And look here, it was music that really brought Tiara to the forefront of where she is now.”

Jerrell Saddler – Program Director, Lifeline and Department of Disability Services
